Just got back from fishing up there. Sure does suck to come down with bronchitis during a fishing vacation, but I still got some quality fishing time in (just not as much as I'd hoped for).

Was fishing self-guided, and have finally worked out what constitutes a good halibut fishing spot. Halibut were caught on humps about 220 to 270 feet deep, and lingcod were on reef edges about 100 feet down. Didn't bother fishing for salmon this year, as I just wanted big flatfish!

No size limits when fishing without a guide. I rent a 23' twin engine Svendsen and run it myself.

The lingcod was 23.5#. The silvergray rockfish 11#, and the halibut pictured were 45# and 76# respectively. All are personal bests for me.

We also had quite a few small 15-20# halibut, and several 30-35#. But no salmon.

Multiple PB's on one trip, awesome. Congrats on that, a lot satisfaction in guiding yourself. Very cool to get on nice fish like that. Did they say why the salmon weren't around?

Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Oh, salmon were plentiful. I just wasn't interested in them.
