Now as far as the jig & cork action goes.....almost nonexistent for us this year bang
And now the areas I normally catch them under a cork is chocked out with coon tail moss cry

Ok let's start with:
4-10-18

Belinda & I slipped out for a little afternoon action.
Graphed an area and located some possible spots.
I dropped in the 1st spot, THUMP
Broke my leader at the jig on the hookset, then NADA hammer
2nd spot.......NADA
3rd spot.....stumps and laydowns on the dam of an old pond.
IT WAS ON!

It was fast & furious Lake Fork Style

When the action slowed, we had 18 in the livewell with 2 over 2#

My back was still hurting from the Crappie Masters tourney, so we quit with only 2 1/2 hours on the water

Hickory Nut arrived at his camp Friday the 13th, but due to winds we didn't get out till Monday.
There's a path worn out in the grass in front of his RV where he paced back & forth while waiting roflmao

4-16-18

We stared the day out with a light N wind, but the forecast had it changing to S during the day.

Started on the pond dam and instantly started catching fish banana
They weren't the same quality as before, but still good fish thumb
Moved to a bp that I had marked while Belinda & I was out and got some serious THUMPS!

While we were fishing the bp, looked up and a 16" 8 lug dodge rim came floating by.
We retrieved it so it would not damage anyone's boat realmad

When the wind shifted, the bites were hard to come by bang
Ended the day with 28 and I had caught a 2.55, 2.29 & a 2.09 clap
It was the best big fish day I'd ever had on Fork cheers

4-18-18

HN & I went to Mama B's for breakfast, then launched again.
wasted almost all morning in Birch looking for fish, then headed back to the Honey Hole and a couple of others.
Although we didn't land anything over 2#'s, notice I said "LAND"....
HN had a BIG girl to the surface, but she pulled off, we were catching quality fish thumb
Ended the day with 40 more woot

All the girlie fish had swollen bellies full of eggs, so the spawn is far from over.
Log jams, laydowns, stumps and bp's in 8-9 fow are where it's at right now.

The upright pedestal on my double seat broke yesterday, but I took it and had it welded up this morning.
HN said he was gong back home today, but I sent him a text saying the boat seat was fixed and forecast is calling for 8-13 mph winds tomorrow???????????

Nice pics and nice report!

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Called the office and let em know I can be reached by text if they need me. Wife's phone went to voicemail. I'm sure she will understand 😬
Now I just hope my arm will get to feeling better after Todd had to twist it so hard😋

Thanks for posting, I'd about given up on the shallow bite on Fork. Guess I've made the mistake of not trying new areas.

I'm new to this crappie fishing and had a great spring on Fork last year but this year has been tough for me. I thought the spawn was about over. Was catching a few in 10'fow but that has slowed way down.

Thanks for the inspiration to keep crappie fishing!

Glad to see you out catching some fish! Like the pics...you need more pics of Belinda...she kinda livens the story up! coolphotos

Hickory nut...nothing like being coerced into staying longer than you planned, especially when it allows for more fishing time! banana

I just got back from fishing with dinner bell....we got on the water a bit after 6pm, over here at lake Y...put 22 in the boat before dark, all in 2 FOW...females all had eggs...they were sure liking purple/chart today...

Sounds like you found my secret hole, and they do like them some purple/char.

I'm hooking up the boat when I get home from Houston this morning, and taking the wife again. For a person who doesn't like to fish, sure isn't proving her point. I think she's hooked on these crappie as much as I am.

I'll share some pics. this evening.

cheers
