Already gone back to deeper water for the most part...I spent 10 days there about a week ago, shallow fish could be had, but there were a lot of spawned out females on the brush in 10-15 FOW. Hope this helps.

Spent most of last week fishing Marina and Crappie Point. Gotta say, it has been very good there and they are still in shallow to 9 feet of water. 1 more trip tomorrow before I have to go back to work.

Yea, JWfish, I usually avoid those two spots, although I did one day go watch Doyle Holman hold court on crappie point for a few hours...crappie point is a mostly 8 to 10 feet where the majority of fish were being caught, although I did catch some males shallow, while there. I also went and sat in my boat while eating a late lunch at the marina, a couple of times, and noticed some folks who had some 6 fish stringers mostly with a few that had more than that. The way they have the marina fishing pier situated now, the water depth runs from a couple of feet to 8 feet. Basically, neither of the two areas is considered shallow water to me.
Where I was catching 10 to 20 days ago was 12 inches to 2 feet...and then at 9-11 feet in several creeks, as well as, around the lake shoreline which encompassed approximately 50 percent of the total lake shoreline. In addition, I had many opportunities to visit with known local fisherman while on the water and exchange information. So while I am glad those two areas are still producing some fish, over the course of ten straight days of fishing and visiting with overr 50 fishing folk, I gathered some unique insight into the crappie movements on the major fishing parts of the lake. As for people wanting to catch shallow fish, you can decide for yourself whether they are shallow or not. All I saw was a ton of people looking for shallow fish and not many finding them. But i did find some both shallow and deeper, even without the assistance of my electronics, thanks to stump that broke transducer, as I was coming out of one of the creeks.
Most of the females I encountered in deeper water were spawned out, most of the females I caught in shallower water were partially spawned out and I caught very few in 3-6 feet that had had a full belly of eggs in them. Also, during the course of my stay, I went from catching numbers of females with eggs shallow, to not catching any shallow females, despite warming water temps. I certainly hope this information clarifies my earlier statements about the spawn and shallower fishing. To those looking for shallow fishing opportunities, good luck and try either the Marina or Crappie Point or find a lake where there is a greater likelihood of catching shallow fish.
