Lewisville crappie fishing has been up and down the last few weeks from weather changing so much and pressure in certain areas combined. Had Travis out on Friday and the keepers were very hard to come by. He boated lots of small fish and only ended up with 8 keepers. It did turn out to be a beautiful afternoon about the time we came off the lake. Saturday was a little better for the keepers with Josh and his dad Darrell. Ended up with 18 big crappie in the livewell and a nice gallon bag of fillets. They also caught a lot short fish. Sunday I had Kyle and Mike out for an afternoon trip. They missed out on the morning bite that was really good from daylight til about 10:30. They did boat a lot of fish later in the afternoon and ended up with 21 keepers. Threw back a lot of 9 3/4" fish. The cold weather coming up this week should stack them back up again. Most fish caught on 1/16th jig heads in pink or chartreuse with either shad color or chartreuse baby shad bodies. Did clean a few sandies with eggs that looked ready to go. None came from a creek yet. May be some late January white bass spawning this year. I have some open dates over the next few weeks to chase some crappie.

Your welcome Hogan. I had Cody and his 2 kids out today for an afternoon trip. I wish the bite would have been as good as the weather was. The morning bite has just been a lot better the last week. We did catch a few fish at each place we stopped today. No more than 1-2 fish per stop. Only ended up cleaning about a dozen keepers. Lots of 9 1/2" fish today. Did have 3 nice large black crappie today. Been catching mostly white crappie. They hooked a few big fish that got off. Most likely gar. Never saw any of them. Also had a pig 3lb 2oz spotted bass crush a 1/16 jig on a 10ft ultra light crappie pole. It was a beautiful fat fish and released to bite again. They had a great time on the water enjoying one of the nicest early January days I can remember in years.

Good talking to y'all at the dock yesterday as y'all headed out. Good to hear you put those boys on some fish. It was as beautiful a day as you could ask for, but I think that 5:00am storm put the fish a little off their feed. I know that out on the main lake I was catching as many Crappie as Sand Bass. I didn't catch many sandies, but they where healthy little pigs. The crappie on the other hand where all dinks for me. Well done for you and your bunch.

It was good talking with you again Lurenut. Did catch a couple in a spot I believe I saw you fishing a few weeks back with some success. That spot might be good to you again this weekend or next. Hope to see you out again soon.

That's good to know. I will be out of town this weekend but back at it the following weekend if all goes well. Not sure if I will fish or set out some brush piles. Need to start getting ready for summer don't you know. Tight lines to you and those that fish with you.
