We took advantage of the cooler temps to head out Saturday morning.

I took my 13 yr old neighbor on Saturday to chase sand bass. With the cloud cover and north wind, they weren't really cooperating, so we switched to crappie. After catching a few, he did not want to fish for sand bass, and... he called his mom and asked if he could miss his 2:30 soccer game so we could stay out. (I like this kid.) lol AND he didn't bring his phone. He scored very high marks with this crappie fisherman. cool
I guess the mark of a good guide is if your clients catch the most and biggest fish. Well he did. lol

He couldn't lift the big one in, so I grabbed the line. Glad we had 12lb braid and glad she choked and old favorite, purple passion.

He's a natural!

Also, when we got home his mom said this "memory" from 2 yrs ago came up on FB. I guess it was about this time 2 yrs ago we also took a trip tubing and fishing. My, how he has grown.

This kid is a hoot.

Good times!
Good fishing to all.

Thanks all!

Also, his day started at 4:30 am. The fish slowed down around 11 and it got a little more muggy so we stopped by the floating restaurant at Collin Marina, The Harbor House.

We made it out of there and I asked him if he still wanted to play soccer after all. So he called his mom and she got all his stuff ready. I pulled up out front and he got out of my truck right into their car, and off to soccer. lol
Then later they went to an FC Dallas pro soccer game, then he spent the night over at a friend's house. cheers Ah, to be 13 again.
I went home and took a nap... tired

BTW -
If any of y'all are ever out and about on Lake Lavon around noon-ish and the fish aren't cooperating, it's always a good bet to stop at the Harbor House. You can pull your boat right up to it. The floating restaurant at Collin Marina has really good burgers. I think they are Angus beef and never frozen. If it's crowded, your order will take a while, because they make each one when ordered. But there is a full bar and sports on all the TV's. It's a cool place to hang out and really good food.

Good fishing! ... and if not that, then good eating! lol
