If you have two different size screens on your console and bow electronics, which do you prefer to put your larger screen and/or your higher end electronics? I currently have two Lowrance HDS7's (one is a touch and the other is not). But as I get older, a larger screen would be a whole lot easier to see. The cost would prohibit me from getting two new ones. So if I end up with an HDS7 touch and an HDS10 touch, which should be on the bow and which on the console? I understand it's a personal preference but I'm interested in y'alls experience and thoughts.

It's a consumer preference. I utilize the larger display at the console. I do more work from the drivers seat with searching and fine tuning on the fly.

You can get two Humminbird Helix units for the price of one Lowrance unit.

I have larger on the console. With older eyes it makes it easier to locate brush piles or structure with a split screen of chart and SI. Once I locate what I want, I can move to the front and its easier to find on the small DI because I'm on top of it already.

I like the larger up front as it is easier to see standing up.

Lollygagger - I agree with others about larger unit at the console for the reasons David posted. Depending on the size of your boat - and the room at the bow, space seems to be an issue for me, so I like my HDS5 Gen 1 at the bow, and my HDS Touch at the console. Works for me! Hope this helps you decide.

If you're really on a budget, a simple 2D graph is going to work just fine on the bow. Been using this set up for 6-7 years now. I use the side imaging on the console to mark the pile, after that, a man really doesn't need much up front to stay on the structure.

I have a 1199 at the console and a 999 at the bow, bt I built a mount for it using an extendable seat pedestal so when I or somebody else is in the chair it can be raised if need be for better visibility.

I'm with Laner. Fished for years with a simple 2D on the bow. Have the HB 999 on the console and a HB 345 C-DI up front. Do all the lookin and markin with the SI. I only need the unit up front to show the edge of the pile. I don't worry about looking for fish on the pile with the DI up front. I do that with the 999.

HDS 12 on the console and a 7 on the bow. Have em linked and both pinpointed to the TM but I honestly never use that. Having them linked is a must though.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I do have mine linked. I do use my side imaging views on my bow unit (from my transom transducer) when I'm on my trolling motor searching bridge pillars. If I get the opportunity to get a larger screen unit, I'll put it at my console.
