Friend of mine from near Valley Mills is thinking of buying a boat. He's never crappie fished, so I asked him and his wife to meet me at Waco at 7:15. Hit the first BP in 12 FOW and things were slow, 2 dinks. Hit #2 BP in 14 FOW and slow again at first. Then another dink, then a nice lb crappie. Finally a keeper as I was getting worried. Proceeded to catch about 15 more there with several keeps. Hit #3 BP and things improved in a hurry. Ended with 21 keeps; BFOD was 1.53. Headed to the ramp at 10:15.

That new 2" tadpole in pearl ice from Thermocline was the ticket today. Fish were finally hitting the bait with some good thumps. These fish were thick and healthy and plenty of fat. Saw some small eggs sacks developing also.

The fillet knife is 13.5". Small fish is 1.04 lb.

I like a pink head with those light colored baits. Pink head has worked great the past few weeks.
