And they are biting. Checked eight of my brushpiles yesterday early and caught 7-10 fish on every one. Several keepers and a lot that were close. Certainly an improvement.
Best bait (color didn't matter) was 1/16 oz with baby slab bandit (1") slow swimming at 8' over brush. 14'-16' deep water. 1/32 probably would have worked better but I'm to impatient to wait for it to sink. I use 12# braid with 10# leader. Hint, I was using white braid and I colored about 8" of it at 9' with my magic marker. That way I could tell exactly how deep my lure was swimming.

Great idea, Thanks for the tip! Do you use a uni to tie leader to braid?
Randy I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in!

No man, too much trouble. I use a #12 swivel (It's tiny) Tie the swivel to the braid, tie on about 18" of vanish with a good knot. Tie your jig on with a weaker knot (improved clinch) When breaking off a jig it will almost always break at the jig. You lose about 1" of leader each time you break off.

Thanks! I'll try that. the double uni is a pain in the patout.

Thanks Ernest, When I got on TFF 15 years or so ago, I was a minnow in the spring crappie guy. I am still no expert, but have leaned a ton from you and others on this forum . Do you feel the fluorocarbon is the way to go for leader material ? What do you think about loop knots ? I like the way the jig hangs , But it seems more crappie spit the hook when I use loops. Good luck Mo

I don't like loops. I like the jig tight to the line so I can position the knot so the jig swims level.
