It's been about 8 years since I've been on Cypress but I had a house there for a few years. We always caught them under the bridge. We also had several brush piles we could pull crappie from anytime we wanted. But I wouldn't know where to tell you to find a brush pile these days. The bridge should be a pretty good place.

I've only fished it once since we moved last June.
Making plans for a trip with Slewfoot & his boy.

The bridge is always a good choice, but there are MANY bp's there that should be really good right now!

There is a lot of brush piles, think maybe the time of year on some of them but they do hole fish and lots of 2 plus coming out. I don't fish there maybe a couple times a year but my family it there everyday lake. What I don't like about it, it is a play lake.

We just got off of Cypress for the day. It brutally sucked today. We ended up with 3 green fish and not a single crappie bite

Generally look for the docks that look like people fish from them and near deeper water. Maybe the docks just inside or on main lake points. Side scan them if you have SI. You can find some brush piles if you take some time to search for them. Don't ignore the secondary points like the ones in Panther Creek. You may find some brush piles there. Also look for points with creek channels near by. There are a handful of natural places like this you can easily find on a map.

Another place I used to catch summer crappie was near Tall Tree Marina. If you idle out of Tall Tree Marina turn left and there is some deep water along the left bank and there used to be some brush piles in front of some of those docks.

There is a road bed just to the west of the Tall Tree public ramp out on the main lake...not the one in the cove at the marina. You can easily see the road ends in the water. If you are sitting out in front of the ramp look to the west (left) and you will see where the road ends in the water. There is a barricade there. Follow the road out to 20' of water or so and you may find some crappie there.

Out in front of Walleye Park on the main lake side are some small docks. Out in the main lake about 100 yds or so out from these docks are some humps. I want to say they are in 20-25 ft of water. If you can find those humps you will find crappie on them this time of year. Just idle out about 100 yds from the bank and parallel the bank with your down scan on. If you bass fish you might also try a Carolina rigged french fry there. I've pulled some hogs off them humps. Down at the east end of Walleye on this same path is a pipe line that crosses the lake. I've also pulled some big bass off that pipe line.

Directly across the lake from Walleye Park are main lake docks in deep water. Its easy to find deep water structure on the south side in this area right up on the bank. There used to be several brush piles in front of some of these deep water main lake docks.

If you had a map and we were where I could mark it for you I could show you dozens of places on Cypress. But hopefully some of these will help. Good luck. Post some pics.

I remember fishing in the creek of Cypress Springs before the dam was completed. We camped at the literal bottom of the "lake". This was in 1969, 70, or 71.

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

North side of the lake east of the bridge , There are a few brush piles there that I used to slay the slabs at night, I used to have a marker on it but I am sure its probably no longer there.

Seems like something happened a few years back to the crappie on cypress. Within a season it went from lights out to squat.

Very possibly chemical related. That lake used to have incredible vegetation. Anytime of year all you had to do was fish the moss lines and you would catch fish. Moss lines were along every bank. At one time it was the cleanest lake in the state because of the vegetation. Yes it was a pain around your boat dock but it's what made the lake the incredible fishery it was. Long story short the big money property owners lobbied to get the use of chemicals (which ones I don't know) approved to use and they literally killed most all the vegetation. This had to have a serious impact on the fish because after the vegetation was gone the lake was not the same. And it hasn't been the same since.
