 Crappie in the Neches River???

I have heard that you can some crappie in the Neches from the train bridge upstream toward the 31 bridge. Does anyone know if this is true?

it was true the last time I was there ^ years ago. There was a stump in the water about 1/4 mile upstream from the rail bridge on the east side.While we were targeting sandbass everytime we got close to that stump with out a fish on we got a crappie. Not huge but keepers.
