I want take the gf for a little crappie fishing when the bass bite gets slow on fork. want to start stocking up on some jigs. I do have a few jigs but kinda want to get a few colors that work the best. I know it can be like bass fishing, this color one day a different color the next. I know this will be a trial and error. so what brand(s) is best all around and colors work best on average. Probably get a couple lightweight spinning rods to use with probably 4-6lb line.
Thanks for all responses! May your next crappie be your new personal best! Jeff

I would suggest getting you a bit of each brand and color. They are all equally good and as you stated color changes from time to time.....Some great tackle guys here so maybe they will chime in....

Tube jigs: Black chartreuse, Red Chartreuse Fish like bodies: Monkey Milk (bobby garland or thermocline), Emerald Shiner (A thermocline lures he is tbox on here) I catch 90% of my crappie on these colors. just make sure you have 1/8th 1/16th and 1/32 jig heads.

Thermocline lures black emerald shiner has been the ticket since the post spawn. Matthew Carroll aka JigUm jigs ties an angel jig for me that produces well (powder blue body/white tail).
