Started out rough with a blowout on the boat trailer about half way to the lake. Finally got on the water and caught a mess of slabs. About 11 or 12 feet down over brush piles (they're everywhere on that lake) using a blue and white crappie thunder with eighth oz jig head. Switched later to a Garland electric chicken and did just as good. Some bites were real thumpers but mostly the bite was very light. Stayed in water about 22 to 25 ft deep. Wished I had taken pics, the fish are real dark and healthy looking. I noticed the biggest fillets had a darker meat. Haven't seen that before.

The lake is new, as in it was opened last September. Are these brush piles that the core left when they were building the lake?
I've seen two bass shows filmed on that lake and it looks awesome. I will have to make it over there. I remember the early days of Ray Roberts and it was so awesome.

I'm sure they were left when the lake was built. There is so much cover in that lake I can't imagine anyone having to build a pile. Have not tried the bass fishing yet. Can't get past the crappie bite!
