I purchased my second Motorguide Xi5 the other day and the new one would not link up it GPS. Motorguide told me to go to The Boat Center in Flint and they would fix it. Decided to call The Boat Center before I dove my boat over there and the technician told me that they don't work on that junk and I should buy a Minnkota from him. Is Motorguide going down hill and why would they send me to a dealer that talks bad about them? Or, am I just crazy?

If they are a certified Motorguide repair center, call Motorguide back and relay the message given to you. I'm sure they would be interested in hearing what they had to say.

Yea I did that and The Boat Center is still under their preferred dealer in their dealer locator? It must have something to do with their geographical location

I ran into quite a few dealers badmouthing MG recently and telling me to buy MK instead. I told them that I liked networking through my Lowrance and they just told me to buy Humminbirds instead.

All star archery and marine electronics Dallas Texas theyre just off of 30 and Buckner. They do great work on motor guide Xi5 and Minnkota. You wont have a problem with them.

My Minn Kota powerdrive is doing the same thing. Links up for 30 seconds then shuts down. I have to pull it up just to get it to start again. Let me know what you find out.

1. Locate a suitable area clear of obstructions to navigation (both above and below the waterline) to perform the compass calibration.
2. Deploy the trolling motor. Verify that you are in a location where your trolling motor and primary propulsion engine will not hit bottom or other obstructions.
3. Press and hold the manual mode button, then press 1, 1, 1. The trolling motor will emit three ascending tone beeps.
4. Use the primary propulsion engine to slowly drive the boat in two complete circles. The trolling motor will emit a tune when the compass calibration is complete.

When I called MG that My GPS did not work the first time I put it in the water and he told me this I really questioned him.......sounded very fishy to me also. He told me to download the remote manual and, yep. There it was. I lost gps after about a year and did this agian and it really does work!
