I usually do not post much but instead peruse the Forum to learn. I fished Lewisville Dam Saturday, did real good on crappie. Noticed a guide in a bass boat with a couple of customers. They were not doing very well and I watched them slowly work their way towards me. I usually welcome and accept potlickers on the open water so long as they remain respectful and exercise common sense. Fishing around others is a great way to learn, especially since we can always learn something from someone on any given day. The Guide used his trolling motor to get within 10 feet of me. I wanted to say something, but heck I just let the rod and reel do the talking, pulled in 2 more keepers while his customers watched They trolled right by me and picked up a 4" bream. The guide moved on after marking the spot with his side imaging. I hope he learned a new spot for his future customers. I know I have learned from the guides and appreciate them. I only hope he returns the courtesy if someone motors up close to him when he has customers in his boat instead of claiming the open waters around him as "off limits". Decided to let the keepers go since we changed the menu from fish to steaks Saturday afternoon so someone can catch them next time.

This subject came up last year about the difference between crappie and bass fisherman. It is somewhat expected and allowed amongst crappie guys to snuggle up tight and dam near get close enough to touch boats. While bass fisherman has a whole different tolerance and it is usually around 50-70 yards before you start getting a little figidy. So when I go crappie fishing I have learned to just bite my tongue and except the fact that this intrusion if you will just might happen. It is ok with some and not with others, but does still happen none the less.

With all the stuff to worry about on a daily basis this to me does not even make the radar.

There is so much lake and an abundance of crappie out there to be had by all.

As long as they do not interfere with my fishing then I could care less.

Most folks when they are getting close will at least say hello and ask how your day is going or something to that effect.

Some don't have any good manners or good fishing etiquette and that is on them. I will simply smile and wave and move on.

I learned a long time ago not to sweat the small stuff in life and every day is a gift.

Sounds like you were the better person and handled it well.

Really in the big picture stuff like this is not worth getting your blood pressure up.

Thank you for sharing.

I'm not on fish often so I don't have the problem of people moving in on me grin

Tie your brush pills up real good with a rope and bouy to the surface. When someone comes that close reach down grab rope and pull up brush pile and drive off grin

Were you in the center console skeeter by chance. I saw a boat move in on you and practically push you off your mark.....I was in complete amazement as to how you simply held your ground and peace. We were to your left in the Lund. If it were you in the skeeter......

That's pretty poor guiding if you ask me, not only is it lazy but you are teaching someone possibly for the first time that it's absolutely normal just to roll up close as you can get to someone already on a spot.

You should have took a picture and posted it on here. That would have been awesome!

I see it as just being lazy and not wanting to put the work in to find fish. He probably thought you owed it to him after all he is trying to make a living. Ha.

Bass fishermen or want to be bass fishermen seem to be the worst, that's who I have the most problem with anyways.

Don't know how much longer I can just shake my head at them.

Bassholes.

Yep, that was me in the Skeeter center console. If you fish L'ville often, you will see me since I fish that lake 90% of the time. You can sometimes find me fishing in a center console Fishmaster - a well known Crappie guru in these parts, he and I fish often. I think the guide was crappie fishing, probably anything fishing since he wasn't doing that well. You would have had to have been there to see him, and yes it wasn't worth my time unless his trolling customer snagged my lines, I would have had to have said something then. But the fact that he did what he did speaks for itself.

Potliking was a problem in the past until the spotlock arrived upon the scene. The marker buoy still gets some use in my boat, but not as often. One time a guy dropped his anchor right on top of my buoy & I could not believe he did such a thing. Like one of the above replies, I just find a new spot & there are plenty of them on LL. The surface action will be here soon & the lake turns into a combat zone when it is here. My advice is not to yell @ these seasonal fishermen. You could be dealing with a hot head with a 9mm.

10 feet did they say "Hi"?
