sometimes on some lakes the shad and crappie all gather in the same areas, and catching them feeding is the challenge. the crappie must eat almost everyday, but when theres 10s of thousands of shad just sitting right above the crappie, they can feed at will. sometimes its a 15 minute feed. usually right before dark, because baitfish eyes take longer to adjust to changing light conditions. put a crappie in a tank of minnows, and wait all day, then turn light off in room .Minnows immediatley rise to the top and SLPOOSH, WHAM, KABAM, the crappie whack them like crazy.
Try to find areas that hold crappie and some baitfish, not most of the baitfish.

I know on waco, you can go to the old dam in winter, and theres 20.,000 fish hanging there, but 20 million shad. you can bounce your jig on the crappies head and hard to get bit.
Fidhing the frontal passages can help too. check out PRIMETIMESFISHING PREDICTOR.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
