Kevin McCullough, owner of Downwind Guide Service, invited me out for my maiden voyage on Lake Lewisville yesterday morning. We have been trying to meet each other and catch a few fish for some time now, and the stars finally aligned for me to head out his way.

He has been in the white bass/hybrid striper game for several years now, but has switched gears to offer his clients a new type of challenge: CRAPPIE. "It's a lot of work sinking brush piles and targeting crappie specifically, but I really enjoy being able to offer something other than sandies and hybrids. I think a lot of my customers will enjoy the change of pace, and the challenge that comes with chasing crappie." I couldn't agree more, and from what I saw yesterday, Kevin is your man for Lake Lewisville.

We hit brush piles and bridges, getting my 25 around 10:30-11:00. We left them biting, which was a shame because towards the end of the trip is when we really started laying the hammer down on the good sized fish. I had to get back home to celebrate one heck of a dad, or we would've fished a little while longer.

If you want to catch crappie on Lake Lewisville, call Kevin McCullough of Downwind Guide Service at 817-909-1953.

I fish with him quite a bit and always enjoy the time spent catching crappie with him. He has been having some good trips and been putting his clients on quality and numbers of fish.

Kevin must be good if Lane says so. No higher recommendation would be needed but then Dave and Ron chimed in so there is no doubt. Good luck Kevin! cheers

I've known Kevin for years and I guarantee there isn't a guide that will put in more effort than Kevin. He takes pride in what he does. Spread the word! He deserves it

I wanna first off start by saying thank you, thank you! Means a lot to me coming from Lane Palmer, David Goodson, Ron Duran, Fishbrown. It's been a long time putting all this together. But it's been well worth the time and dedication. Plus I've made some great new friends along the way. Lane is right I've been in the hybrid and Sand bass business for over five years now as a full time guide. I love guiding for those species of fish. But alot of my clients would ask me if I guide for crappie. I always told them it was in the making. As of this year we are now offer guided crappie trips. It's been a absult blast. Nothing better than seeing the smiles and laughs of clients creating memories out on the water. That's what it's all about. Lane met up with me this past Sunday. I've know Lane for a while now. Glad we finally got to get out on the water and fish. We started off fishing a bridge. Only catching a few. I said Lane Lets move it's to slow. (Lane) said "your the captin. So we left and I said lets hit some brush piles. On the second brush pile. That's when things started to pick up. Next stop we hit another spot on the bridge. Then BAAAM! It was on! Fish after fish, lots of fist bumps and smiles. As I was caught in the heat of the moment of the fish slaying. I remembered Lane had to go early. I asked Lane what time did you have to leave. He smirked and said we've got about 30 min left. I said heck ya! Let's keep on till the last min. Boy was that the fastest 30 min of my life lol. I must of asked Lane 6 times or more what time is it? What time is it? When it was time to go. We were both sadden we had to leave them biting. But he had to go and I had to fish a trip that evening. All in all it was a great day! I'm looking forward to having Lane come back again soon.
