So I see Wally Marshall on the tube saying Lavon is the best Crappie lake around. I always go to Ray Bob. Is Lavon actually better than Ray Roberts? Both are about the same distance from the home. Just wondering... Or is this the old ford vs chevy deal.

Having fished both, Id say lavon is maybe a little easier to fish than Ray roberts, but I'm not sure it's any better if you know what you are doing. I wouldn't pick either as the best crappie lake around though.

The best one is the one you actually enjoy fishing more.

We are really lucky here in North Texas. Plenty of fish in just about any lake you visit around here.
I like Ray Roberts a lot but Lavon produces for me also and I have over 40 years of fishing it and it is way closer to me,,,,, yet I fish Ray Hubbard more than both of the other combined.

My place at Texoma is 100 yards from the boat ramp, but I regularly trailer halfway around the lake or into Denison to chase them on small town lakes.

There are a couple of lakes in NE Texas that I always get my limit quicker on, but getting an easy limit is not why I fish.

Tight lines, Phill

Currently I would not put Lavon on your list of lakes to fish. Not just yet anyways. Wait until spring and then you should see a real bang for your bite.
