Hey guys- I typically fish Granger, but since it's 15ft high, it's closed..as are a lot of my area lakes (Belton, Waco,etc), looks like Stillhouse might be the only one open since it's only 3ft high. Anyways, I've never fished Stillhouse before, so I was hoping for some help. I'm not looking for the location of anyone's secret brush pile, just need a little help getting pointed in the right direction, like what side of the lake, or any particular landmarks to look for. Unfortunately, Stillhouse is one of the worst crappie lakes in the state honestly this time of year. It can be great in the spawn and winter, but it's really tough in the summer. I fish from Dana Peak to up past the bridge. My best 7 fish ever went 7 pounds. My best day with a partner was 35 keepers in a tourney, but we barely had 6 pounds I think. Sometimes the timber, which is now submerged, is the best bet. There are actually very few brush piles. Definitely bring minnows. Go for coves and structure right off the channel.

Yep look for coves with flooded timber.

If you launch at Cedar Gap park, there is a big shallow cove with flooded timber just to the west on the north shore, and two smaller but deeper coves with timber to the east, also along the north shore.

That said, like Loafman said, Stillhouse is not known for crappie. You can catch them, and even limit, and even get a big-un now and again, but you are not going to consistently come home with a heavy crappie stringer from that lake.

I went over the bridge yesterday and launching at Cedar Gap now is out unless something has changed. There was literally 100 feet of logs and debris in every direction on and near that ramp. Lots of floating stuff around the bridge.
