I messed with the settings and know there's guides that will help u dial it in but I feel like I did a pretty damn good job of doing so and man I swear when I pull up to shoot some trees that are free standing it's all a blur and wonder if because the 899 doesn't come with the hd transducer if I should take bird up on thier exchange program and wonder if it's too late now that I've already installed and used? I researched the purchase for months and have seen screenshots of guys units that were much more defined than what I'm getting. Any thoughts would be much appreciated! Thx

The HD transducer does make a difference but trees shouldn't be blurred. Screen shots are usually clearer when loaded on a PC than what you see on your screen. Have you played with SI Enhance and set the sensitivity and contrast to 13-14? Then play with sharpness. If changing those doesn't get the pic you want, I'd go the exchange route. The HD transducer does make detail much sharper. Send an email to slade.dougharty.sd@gmail.com for an expert opinion.

Exactly were I ended up on those two and found it best to have the sharpness on low so I wasn't too far off. I have a guy with bird Greg I emailed when researching my purchase and I'll contact him again to do the exchange if still possible. Thx for the input!

You can only exchange the standard transducer for the HD transducer if you HAVE NOT opened the package with the transducer. If opened they will not take it for exchange. Sorry. I bought the HD flat out and have the standard on bow TM and the HD on the stern. The HD DOES make a difference.

I was told the si transducer is not nearly as sharp for the di picture. I an thinking of getting 2 different transducers and 1 unit to share . putting a dedicated do transducer on the trolling motor and si on the transom

Turn your range down maybe? I run my 999si around 40-75 feet while I'm scanning also I had it wired to the cranking battery and I was getting lines and skips so I moved it to my extra trolling battery and it stopped it and made it seem clearer
