Trying to figure out crappie fishing. This time of year will creeks productive?

I know a place where you can catch them in the winter, but I know alot of people fish shallow on the main lakes and around timber.

My experience THIS year has been the creeks have been pretty good to me for the Month of March but as soon as the calendar changed to April, it has steadily died down to not much of anything. I fish for them in creeks in spring, I do not try much on the lakes since I only have a two man bass hunter boat and the wind is usually to strong to get out on the main lake. When I have the chance to fish from a larger boat then flooded grass, timber and shorelines in the lakes have worked for me. I have only been actively chasing crappie for 3 years now and only in the spring so my information is pretty limited.

Ill give the creek a try. Tried fishing timber yesterday and caught one nasty little catfish... It's tricky out on the main lake without electronics or know how grin

I have been fishing Lake Fork all this last week and not using a boat because of wind. In the creeks and just out in the lake where there is a lot of cover has been working. Snakes real bad but for the most part just water snakes.
