I would like the good people of TTF to be the first to know that I will be opening a new catfish and crappie guide service on beautiful Lake Fork.

I'll give you brief run down while my new website is under construction.

Rates will be as follows:

$100 per person for the first 2.
$75 for each additional to the maximum of 5 people.

When you call to book a trip, we can discuss together what times will be best to take our trip. There are times when the night fishing is better than the days. So let's discuss what the conditions are best when we talk.

There will be a 10 percent discount for law enforcement, fire fighter and military.

All kids 12 and under are half price!

I have a 2012 G3 Tri-log pontoon boat powered by a Yamaha 4 Stroke 200hp. This is a luxury boat with everything we will need. Life jackets, throw cushion, kill switch, etc....

I do not require a deposit and do not expect payment for services until the trip is over!

I do not expect a gratuity! That's what rates are for! Never understood why guides expect a tip when they are already being paid very well!

I will provide all tackle and bait unless you want to bring your own gear.

I will provide drinks and snacks.

I will clean and bag all the your catch.

You need to bring appropriate clothing, sun screen, or anything you think you may need other than what I am providing.

I work locally in the law enforcement field and decided to provide this service on the side. That is why you will find my rates cheaper than the rest.

I have a Texas Parks and Wildlife State Guides License.

Give me a call at 903 736 4557. I'm Seth Vanover and I look forward to hearing from you soon! The catfish bite is really good right now, so let's go fishing!

I haven't fished Fork a lot, but I think I know the lane. They are fun to catch when you find them.

Thank you Bobcat.

If you go to Catfishradio.com Ronnie, you can listen there streaming and get a list of the stations. It will air next week once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

Sounds like you will do well.... I just don't agree that guides get paid very well...
I get tipped very well most of the time, but I don't expect it.

I hope you plan on getting guide liability insurance...

If you figure your expenses right, that is your overhead, I think you will find that guides do not get paid very well.

Just my opinion of course.

I guide because I enjoy fishing with people, good people, and that is what the majority of fisherman are!

I am retired law enforcement and my guiding and a/c business keep me afloat!

Good luck and have fun!

Kevin

I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing.

one thing I learned long ago when I started my appliance/a/c business, if you start cheap, you will have to stay cheap. just because you have a second job, doesnt make it ok to undercut other peoples prices by offering a lower rate, if you have to do that to get customers, you will never get the quality customers, only the ( I need to get over to feel good), type customers. Also, things change, what if you lose your current job for whatever reason, and have a customer base built of of customers who expect " cheap". you will then be running trips very unhappily, because you know you are basically giving your service away. if your research other successful guides and see what they charge, its for good reasons. you will need repairs on your boat from time to time, replace tackle, boat insurance, tires from time to time, liscences, life jackets, and on and on.
consider all the hidden costs that are involved before you go put your foot in the doo doo to deep.
best of luck on your new venture, thanks for what you do, and keep on keepin on.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I appreciate the advise and I did research others. My rates are a bit cheaper, but not that much cheaper. I've been around the business for awhile and know what happens behind the scenes. I appreciate what you are saying, but not only do I do this for a business, I do this because I love it.

Thank you for your best wishes and see you on the lake!
