This guy is terrorizing the local birds at Unicorn Lake. He'll sit and watch those dark colored ducks dive and catch a fish and when they come to the surface he'll grab the duck by the head with his beak and steal its fish! I'm trying to get a picture of the action but it's tough. I do have a blurred picture of the action!...lol

I think the one closest to the pelican is a cormorant, or water turkey.

Cool ducks in that pond too, we don't see a whole lot of Canvasbacks around here.

I didn't think those big guys got that far north. Not sure I'd ever seen one until I moved to the coast, or at least don't remember.

Cool pic... the drake and hen in the top right are canvasbacks top left is a jack. Canvasbacks once brought top dollar during the days of market hunting.

There are pelicans by the thousands on Grand lake at times, and most lakes in Oklahoma. I had one flying directly overhead on Tenkiller once, made a really high and long cast with a Carolina rig in his general direction. He squawked real loud and spit up a large fish,,,,,, my partner said," I think that's a bass!" as the fish was falling. We idled over and sure enough, about a 4 1/2 pounder still alive but floating. I quit liking pelicans that day.

Pelicans are sorry like that. Watch them do the same at Texoma.

Wish the Pelicans would just eat the cormorants instead though. At the very least somehow fatally stab them.
