I usually wait until Valentines Day to put down preemergent, but I don't see any significant cold snaps on the long range forecasts.

I feel like I should put down preemergent a month early this year.

Who's with me?

I put some down last week before the rain. I will probably put some down once a month until march. I don't think it hurts to b on the safe side.

I'm irritated about this winter. We had just enough of a freeze to kill some plants I've had growing for years that I had collected as seeds from some special places I had visited. There's only so much protection you can give against 17 degrees.

The one I typically use says not to.

To avoid possible injury, do not apply XL 2G to:
Turfgrass in the spring that was planted the previous fall. Newly sprigged or sodded areas of bermudagrass, St. Augustinegrass, centipedegrass, zoysiagrass or tall fescue until these turfs are well established and have well anchored root systems

Waste of money now. In the meantime just tee tee on it.

I use a yard service, they treated in Nov and Dec with Pre emergents

Even up here...I have clover emerging right now. We have enjoyed lows in the 60s for the past two nights. Still have weeks of cold to come. No measurable snow yet.

I apply three times a year. Mid Feb, early June, early September.

Think I'll wait another three weeks and put some down early Feb after checking more long range forecasts.
