REI is running a Labor Day sale on both kayaks (15% off) and I'm torn on which one to purchase. I have watched numerous YouTube videos, read many reviews, and both have their pros and cons.

I really like the red, so I'm leaning towards the 10.0, but I have a feeling that I will wish (without telling my wife) that I had purchased the 12.0.

Would you please provide me with advice on which model to purchase? The sale ends on 9/4, so I have a little over a week to make a decision. I'd especially like to hear from those who currently own (or have owned) one of these.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have a 12 and love it. I haven't compared the two, but I plan on purchasing a 10 in the future as a friend/son kayak. If I had both I think I would use the 10 more because I think the cockpit area is the same but it would be easier to load. The 12 is not heavy, but when you car top a few pounds can mean a lot. Either way I think you have picked a winner!

I've never used ACK but lots of folks here have. It says they price match. Wouldn't hurt to try if you really would rather get the 12 if it was offered in red by REI.

Thanks for the tip! ACK is a little further than the closest REI. Plus, I'll get the 10% dividend that I will probably use for kayak accessories after the first of the year.

Well, it appears that I waited too long to purchase the 12.0. REI has taken it off of their site. I just purchased the 10.0 and will pick it up this weekend. Thank you, all, for your input!

man I have the pro 10, I wouldn't trade it for the world.. I love it, comes in at 57 lbs you can carry it one handed. the only difference in the 12 is the extra foot of space that you cant reach anyways. I if youd like to try out the 10 lmk id be willing to meet up with you

I see you made your decision but I'll respond for those that may be asking the same question. I have both, a 12.0 and the 10.0. Weight wise not much difference and the seating areas are the same. The big difference is tracking and speed. The 12.0 is faster and tracks better but the 10.0 is more maneuverable as expected. The tracking on the 10.0 isn't bad, just not as true as the 12.0. I'm a big guy at 6.2 and 215 and on very windy days with a lot of chop the 10.0 will take on more water over the front - not bad, just more. I use the 10.0 for creeks, rivers and small lakes. Also, I don't stand but I think you could in either but the 12.0 would be more stable. Both are decent kayaks and you really can't go wrong with either.
