Hey guys,

headed down to to galveston this weekend. A buddy and I are gonna fish the bay friday morning from the yaks. Neither of us have ever fished the bay from a boat of any kind.

We have the basic ideas down for tackle and tactics, but we havent nailed down a spot yet. We are staying near Jamaica Beach, but can really fish anywhere down there friday morning.

Is anybody willing to point us towards a decent spot, and a decent launch spot?

I know I'm asking for a lot, but hey, it never hurts to ask!

Thanks!

the State Park is right next to you at jamaica beach and has 3 kayak launches init on the bay side. The launch next to the camp areas is my favorite as it leads you right out into the bay and flats. Fish the boat channel right out from launch with pieces of fresh shrimp and you will catch fish. My wife catches lots of croaker, some trout, flounder and redfish like that. I prefer to follow the islands around the flats throwing jigs with gulp shrimp tails on them for the bigger redfish. We have caught some really nice redfish there. Pull up google maps and look at all the flats right next to the launch. Good luck
