Looking to do a 3 day / 2 night trip from Hwy 16 to Rochelle's around December 4th - 6th. We are looking to fish pretty heavy and don't won't to overload any particular day with a hard paddle, missing fishing opportunities.

I was hoping that maybe someone would be willing to share GPS coordinates of various campsites along this stretch so I can take some of the guess work out of this trip. Really appreciate any help!

Flow is super low right now, hopefully they will open it back up.

My son turns 14 on 12/03, so this is a guy trip with his best friend and his dad. I hate to have to drag a bunch but the trip is pretty much in motion, unless the portage is going to be a serious work out, lol. Praying for some open gates in the near future!

Camping on that stretch of the river is very easy.

Tons of places to camp.

There is not very much public land to camp on but more than likely you won't get found out.

Keep em tight!

You can camp anywhere on the riverbed up to the 2nd vegetation line, per Texas laws. After this rain, the Brazos was flowing strong at i-20. It is over a month away until you will be there, and with the rain expected this weekend and throughout the fall with El Nio, the flows should be enough. When I have to portage it isn't even that bad though, and that has been the last two years with like no water. Find you a nice sand bar and pitch a tent and make some memories!

I did this trip a couple of months ago, plenty of islands and gravel bars for camping. I agree with joemac224, you should have good flow and minimal dragging. I don't have any GPS coordinates, but using Google Earth you should be able to figure out a general area you would want to stop. What I did was pull out my phone a couple of times a day to keep track of my location and did kind of a " I'm looking for a spot to camp after this next bend kind of thing" Enjoy your trip! thumb

Across the river from the Boy Scout camp is a good spot.

Just did this trip few weeks ago. 3 days 2 night. At around the 6 mile mark . There is a hard right into small rapids. You will hear it first. Look to your left there is a great flat grassy area to camp. 2nd good spot is just pass The Big rocks area. About 11 mile mark , there is a flat two level section on right. But there are lots of places to make camp . Across from Boy Scouts camp up in the trees is a great place just more walking to and from water. Have fun, hopebthis helps.
