Heading up to camp for the labor day weekend with my wife and kiddos at Hochatown state park. We are taking the yaks along. Is there anything that is a must do or a must see while we are there.

You can pick up a logging road map from the gas station next to Abendigo's restaurant and those are fun to drive around way in the back country. 4x4 recommended but if you don't have one there is a good logging road that a car can drive down. E1998 off of 259a can take you to the re-regulation dam road and was a well maintained logging road. Drive slow and have camera ready. Deer are everywhere.

There is a young white tail buck in Beavers Bend state park that is so tame, that you can walk up and feed it, pet it on the back, etc... It will literally follow you down the road like a puppy.

I saw it this past thanksgiving. Someone posted about it earlier this year so it was still there months later. Not sure about now but I would guess he's still there somewhere.

I'm guessing the mom died when he was very young and he never learned to fear humans. Has just grown up eating food from campers.

There is also some great sight seeing in Beavers Bend. The view atop the dam is nice and there are several hiking trails that take you up to the top of bluffs that overlook the forest and river.
