Decided it was time, and bought a kayak. A bit of research told me it was gonna cost some serious coin to get one like I needed (stable with a high capacity). After looking at several kayaks, and especially when I had an issue with the seat in an Old Town predator xl upon sitting down (I'm around 350, and it knocked my top 3 off the list due to all having the same seat), I drove up to TG canoe in San Marcos to look at one of the kayaks lower on my list (due to price), and wound up leaving with a Jackson Big Rig after a short demo revealed it was everything I had hoped. Was told it wouldn't tip, and I pretty much believe it. I tried. Put the seat in the high position and started slowly leaning over. Ended up having to support myself with a hand on the side before finally falling overboard. Looked back, and the yak was still upright, as I had been told. Standing will take some practice, I was able to stand, but was a little shakey to comfortably fish unless I kept my hands on the standup bar (just laying my hands on it to help with balance); leaning against the bar didn't help.
Don't plan to take it on the lakes, as I have a boat and can get where I want. Mainly planning to use it on the bay around the back of mustang island and around Aransas Pass (boat is unsuitable for the salt). All I think I need right now will be an anchor trolley, white light, and a riser for the rod holder it comes with. Oh, and a stakeout pole. Oh, and a better paddle, and maybe a...damn, I was afraid of that!
No fish is too good for the grease.

At 350lbs you are within 100 lbs of the total weight limit of the Jackson big rig. Most kayaks become less stable the closer they get to max weight capacity. Just something to consider when learning the ins and outs of yak fishing.. welcome to the plastic navy

Sounds like I need to go bigger like you did. Bought a Jackson Cuda 12 and had the seat in the high position the first time I put it on the water. Took me about 2 seconds to end up in the water! Doesn't look like standing up is in my near future.
