Hello y'all. After I get back from basic I'm gonna get me a kayak to start fishing off of. I'm in Carrollton, so Lake Lewisville and Grapevine are right there. Anybody know of some good spots, like creeks or just general spots on these lakes to catch fish from a kayak?

give it another 6 -8 weeks trophy club. I personally like murrell and even better Twin Coves (but i get the discount for twin coves due to residency.
I've only been on lewisville a bit in just a few places - want to get on it more but because of the prevailing winds I play it a bit safer on lewisville.

Mainly bass (largemouth, hybrid, white, etc.), crappie, and possibly catfish here and there.

On grapevine for largemouth bass I like twin codes. But don’t overlook the dam area.

Thanks y'all. Also another question. I'm wanting to go sorta deep, but I'm worried about other boaters. Do any of y'all go deep with a kayak?

I will take my yak over deep water relatively far from shore on Grapevine, but only in warm water conditions (in case I flop out). Also, only during the morning (before the boaters' alcohol starts to take effect). I also have a very visible yak (yellow) with 3M highly reflective tape stuck to the yak, my paddle and my vest. Never had a close encounter with a boat in 15+ years of yaking.

I don't know your boating experience level but I would be hesitant to recommend anchoring in deep water with the colder water temps if you haven't done it before. Its much more safe in my opinion to drift fish in deeper water, where you have a chance of checking all around you for any approaching boat traffic and can more easily get bow of kayak turned in to any boat wakes. While anchored up you'll have a much harder time getting bow turned around 180 degrees without first paddling forward to put some slack in your anchor line and then turning bow. Whatever you do, be safe.

I agree with the others here, to be careful of kayaking and fishing deep water and beginning in the winter months. Just wait until summer to give it a go if you decide to try it. And, go out with a few others.
If you are in a pedal kayak, you could just pedal around in a circle if you are targeting a particular spot . . . drop a fish marker to keep you on target.
In deep water, say 50 feet, it becomes more important to play the anchor out on plenty of line. You can get away with a short drop in 5 feet of water, not such a good idea in deeper conditions. And, if you have 150 feet out (3X depth), that takes a heck of a long time to reel up if some boat is speeding your direction, can't see you for the sun in his face.
But, there will be times when you'll catch a lot of great fish out deep. They aren't always hugging the shoreline.

My anchor line is on my trolley with a snap ring used for climbing and the first 4 feet of my line is bungee with a buoy on it. Thus if I have to unhook, the line will float and I can paddle away. Unhooking takes all of two seconds.
This is also helpful if a lure is snagged, I just unhook the line, paddle over to get my bait free, paddle back and hook up again. Easy.
The bungee gives you some play in the anchor line in waves or wakes so the yak does not want to get pulled under...which of course is super dangerous.
