Anybody done the 20 mile trip recently from PK to Rochelles?
I'm planning a trip out that way in a week to paddle and camp. Wondering what the conditions are like.

Thanks

I just did that trip over the weekend. Water is running at 130 right now and it's pretty good. I only had to get out like four times to walk my kayak. Fishing is the best I've experienced in the Brazos but it's my first time in that section. Mostly smallmouth and sandbass because I was fishing the rapids but my partner caught more largemouth and a nice size stripper.

We ended up paddling about 13.5 miles the first day because of the rain in the morning and because a lot of the sandbars start getting busy starting at mile 10

Watch the river flow as well. You want at least 100cfs or more for this section or you will be dragging a lot. 150 to 200 is ideal but that doesn't happen often. It's prob the most beautiful section of the brazos in the state!

I fished that area Saturday. Sand bass and stripers were chasing bait fish early in the morning. There's a few trout left in there as well. Once the rain started the trout turned off.
