Is there a fee to fish here?
Where would be the best place to launch a kayak?

Thanks

$7 fee to enter/launch at Isle du Bois state park. Look at a map and see if that's too far to paddle for you.

I haven't been in a long time but there is/was a kayak launch. Not sure what it is like now since they released so much water. You do have to pay the park day use fee.

I was just there, it's a narrow creek under spillway, lined up with bank fishermen. The current at 1500cfs is a beating, we launched at the canoe area. That being said I saw a full stringer of hybrids, 3 man limit.
We didn't do so hot, but we also couldn't get all up in the spillway because of 1 current, 2 bankers.

YakManPro you got video? I enjoy your videos
if you're not doing so hot than I would definitely suck. I was thinking fishing the area where the river turns south.
But if bankers getting hybrid, maybe I should become a banker.

Launch at the 428 park and paddle North. Lots of bait fish and deep holes. Many good spots and no bank fishermen.

I wanted to do an episode there, but I couldn't get much on video today. That being said I'm working on a different plan of attack stir
Um, at 1500 cfs going upstream with the Slayer 10 Propel was a little big of a beating from the canoe launch. The bite came early today, when we got there we saw stringers but no fresh bites.
I tried to work the area right after the discharge with my usual tricks, that didn't pan out. So definitely an early bite today, we didn't make it to the dam til like 10:30-11:00
I'd say bank fish there first so you see what you're up against, or take up what the previous response said about his spot. I might try it out.
Thanks for tuning in on the vids!! I'm working on keeping them coming, getting a chance to hopefully film some big ol stripers next week, wish me luck!
