Hey guys I'm new to kayaking but I assume if you go out in winter you wear some kind of waders to keep dry , can anyone recommend some that are not too expensive , I'm on a very limited budget right now jumping from temp job to temp job. Anyway like I said I assume waders with thermals under them will keep me semi warm.

For me waiders are only good for one season. I get holes in them etc. I use the cheepest breathable waiders I can find. Layer up under and your good. Wear the belt.

The Magellan Mag 2 waders from Academy are as good as it gets for the money. I have a pair going on their 4th season. They run about $100.

For waders, I like my Orvis Encounter waders.
I am a HUGE fan/proponent of Simms Riprap shoes for standing/wading Texas rivers. Pair them with Simms Guard socks and you've got as good a wetwading setup as you can buy. Pair them with a good set of stocking-foot waders and you've got the same thing for shallow water wading. I use Orvis Encounter boots (if rubber soles are called for) or Redington boots (if felt soles are called for) on my waders, but like most wading boots, they're bulky.

What kind of boots/shoes do you guys wear with those waders? I just bought the cheap zip-up neoprene wading shoes at Academy as well. I had to buy them 2 sizes bigger than my normal shoe size to wear with the waders.
