Hoping you yakkers could share some info on floating Rowlett Creek. I would be in canoe, along with 2 boys from church, and am wanting to do a close to home float and fish (I realize it's not the best time of year for fishing). My concern is around Pleasant Valley rd would be a problem for a fiberglass canoe. I know I could put in at Firewheel Prky to the lake but would like to explore more. 30 yrs ago I did it from Ben Davis rd in an aluminum canoe but creeks do change over the years with every flood. Also curious if any one have done any floats up stream. Would also like your suggestions on any other creeks in the area. Any info is appreciated.

I've never been paddling in the creek that far north, but just an FYI, you can't float to the lake now. There are a couple of dams in place at Miller Rd for bridge construction.

You could launch at the south end of the Rowlett rd bridge and paddle upstream from the lake. That's what I would do...

I'm a firefighter in Garland and that area is in my district. After heavy rains, Rowlett creek turns in to a raging river. We've had to rescue several kayakers before. During normal flow, parts of the creek are only a few inches deep. In the right conditions you can go all the way to the lake, but i'd go with spazm09 and paddle up from the lake. Fishing is best on the creek during the spring anyways. Just be safe.
