I got a brand new Lowrance Elite 4x CHIRP with DSI. I'm looking for mounting options. A scupper mount wont work with this transducer on a Jackson Cuda because it's too big. The transducer would be sitting below the boat, which is an unacceptable risk of damage. So my options are a side mount, a home fabbed rear mount of the skid plate, or mounting inside the hull.

I really like the idea of shooting through the hull since the transducer would be protected. I'm concerned about losing resolution. Does anyone have experience with a CHIRP and DSI model and shooting through the hull?

Honestly, you'll regret shooting through the hull; not just due to loss of resolution, but inaccurate temperature readings. You will get tired of seeing temperatures of 100deg F + in the summer taking 45 minutes to drop down to actual water temp.

I have a nice set up that I was using on my tarpon 120 that worked great! I have the magnetic threw hull mount and the liberator arm which works great! For sale 150.00 3 months old! Fish finder and battery not included. I bought a Hobie PA14 so not needed now! Made for thr trax system

I have a Lowrance Mark 4 Chirp with the transducer set up for thru-hull with no issues. Just make sure there are no air bubbles in the silicon between the transducer and the hull.

Do you have the bullet shaped trans or the flat kind?
