Well, I did it. I popped ole Marisa's cherry. We got to Marshal Creek near Grapevine this morning at around 6:30. It was me, TexanClay, Thorpedo, and Searsay. Luckily I bought some waterproof/warm clothes last night, because it was nippy this morning. About five minutes in I tried to cast and it wouldn't go. It didn't surprise me that I managed to tangle my line before my first cast, but when I looked up, I realized the last eye on my rod was frozen solid. We all had issues keeping our rods from freezing for the first hour or so. It was a nice, foggy, chilly morning though. Then it warmed up and turned into a gorgeous day. About an hour in, gar started splashing the surface all around us, some pretty big. Literally at one point there was a splash every 5 seconds. Lasted for about an hour. Might have to do some research and go back and try and hook a few.  I caught a couple sand bass and none of us got skunked. Great day. Here are some photos from the morning and of the fish that has the honor of being Marisa's first. Got some great GoPro footage I think, hopefully will have enough to make a highlight reel soon. Sweet!!! Looks like fun! We still havent had our yaks in the water yet, was going to try today but ran outta time. Maybe in the next few days.  It is eating me up!!!!!

It was a pretty awesome trip today! No big greenfish today though  the gar were nuts!

I'm glad you got to land some. I've been pacing all day looking forward to my first trip with my yak tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some good pics for y'all.

It was a chilly morning.... I learned the lesson to always check your boots before you put them on. Got a wet right foot before trip even started with some left over water from last trip. Congrats buddy! Was a blast today.... Next time bring more beer though geez!

Looks like a great trip. Very nice pics. I'll bet it was pretty nippy when you first got out there... PS: Congrats on your yak's first sliming. May you slime her good and often.

And don't forget to stock up on hand/warmers. Next set will cost $15 on the water. Pure monopoly
