So i finaly get to upgrade my kayak and decided on the manta ray i need yalls opinion on what size i should get the 12 or the 14 i do alot of fishing in the centra texas lakes and to the coast every once in a while what do yoall think pros and cons thanks

If you don't plan on fishing the local rivers and you have the means to transport it, get the 14.

Have you had a chance to test drive the 12ft and the 14ft Manta Ray? If not, I'd suggest taking them both to the area that you usually fish and use them for a day. See which one you like better.

Going to the coast I would want the 14.

Like Colleen suggested, Test paddle em both on some open water.

I have had the 14' for two years and highly recommend it. It is a great intermediate length for all conditions. I have paddled my down several rivers and creeks, have fished small farm ponds to large lakes, as well as down on the coast chasing reds/trout. For long paddles across the lake, the tracking on the 14' is good, but it is obvious that it is on the fringe and a shorter length would start to have negligent affects. If you plan to do many overnighters, the hull design is such that you can carry long skinny items (ie extra pole, stake-out stick, etc.) but limited on larger items that do not sit immediately in the area under the hatch (the footwells are deep) so the extra over-all length will give you more space for gear on the exterior. Just my $.02.

Yup, I got the U12. I love it, especially the ability to stand up and fish.

Yea it was a tough desision between the ultimate the tarpon 140 and the manta tar 14 or 12

12s more agile. 14 tracks straighter and will be faster, will also have more storage room and be able to hold more weight etc.
