I have access to an 8-acre pond.

The only hitch is that NO motors (not even trolling motors) are allowed. Want to know if I can row a Bassbaby/Basshunter type boat.

Just from the pictures that I've seen, it doesn't appear that the gunnel height would allow an oar lock to be in the correct position.

Anyone?

Have you considered a Tube?

Not easy to rig oars. A two-bladed kayak extra long paddle is the cheapest thing to try first. Float tube idea better.

I've owned both kayaks and a tube once. Probably will just keep the paddle boat that I am presently using, or buy a 10/12 ft. wide Jon. The issue is more about boarding and exiting since the water level is below the shoreline.

At age 78, I am not as flexible as I used to be. Ha Ha. Stepping down onto a stable platform, like a Jon or a Bassbuggy type boat, would be best.

I did use the paddle boat the other day. Other than the wind causing steering issues when working a shoreline, it was OK.

Thanks for the input and help.

It's not the fastest row, but can be done.you could rig up a rudder to help with control while rowing. It would most definitely be more stable then it's counter parts.

If the fish don't bite your not baiting right...

I like the paddle boat idea, you'll always have at least one hand free while underway for slow trolling and legs are stronger than arms. Whichever one you use, you might want to tie it up front and back to keep it from sliding away from under you, as you mount and dismount.

I have a bass hunter EX...I would hate to have row it anywhere...guess, I would seek an exemption on the (no electric motor) due to physical condition....first, then explore other options, if necessary.

BINGO!! The rudder is key.I added a Rudder to my 8fter Pelican Bass raider & once I had to Row because of battery failier up in a creek. The rudder made rowing easier for me that day.BUT.... I would`nt want to do it again.

A rudder does wonders, transom mount a rudder and bow mount the TM and you'll be faster even on TM alone on other lakes. Its a game changer and can be done cheap and simple with a trolling motor transom mount and piece of starboard cut to shape/size. If you fish mpstly shallows, a push pole can also alleviate a lot pf paddling.

I have an ex as well and man it suck to paddle it anywhere. Would likely have to get some sort of oar locks.

If you will be using the paddle boat or bass boat for other places, how do you get them in and out of the eight acre pond , with a steep Bank? I guess you would just leave them at the pond and have other boats when you want to fish elsewhere.

They are easy to row, but the critters like snakes want to hitch a ride
