I'm looking to get a bass tracker or similar. I'm thinking I want a 10ft but most of the time it will be just me. Do y'all think a 8ft would be ok if I occasionally had an extra person?

I have an 8' pond prowler, and I love it! I usually fish alone, but it works just fine for two. My main question would be: How do you plan to transport it? I have mine on a 4x8 trailer, so the 8' boat fits perfectly. If you have a trailer to fit, or have another way to transport it, I would recommend the larger boat. More space and stability are nice traits to have as long as it fits on your trailer. If not, the 8' will work just fine depending on how you set it up.

Yeah that works too. I did that at first and quickly got tired of having to lug it & the battery & motor, etc. to and from the water every time I fished. So I picked up the 4x8 folding trailer from harbor freight and outfitted it so I could just leave everything in the boat and launch and recover just like a normal boat.

8 footers are tight for two guys.

If you only plan to bring a friend sometimes, you would be fine with the 8.

how big are you? how big is your friend? A couple 250lb guys fill boats up pretty fast.

Both would be under say 215 each. I'm thinking a 10ft just to be safe. But is a 10ft still easy to maneuver out of the water with one guy?

I'm a pretty big guy (6'2" 210lbs) and in pretty good shape, and I got tired of that pretty quick with my 8 footer. It can certainly be done, but you're certainly asking the right question if you're gonna be fishing alone most of the time.

Bottom line, if you plan to stick with using your truck bed and fishing alone most of the time, I would suggest the 8 footer. However, if you think a trailer is in your future, I would go with the 10 footer for the additional space.

A 10 footer certainly can be handled by one guy and hand launched... but you'd have to be in Fairly good shape and have some pretty decent strength it's not easy but it can definitely be done.

If you plan to fish mostly alone the 8-footer is a good choice if you plan to bring a friend often get the 10-footer if you plan to carry a lot of gear get the 10-footer either way if you go with 10 feet eat your Wheaties

Whatever you do, don't befriend a guy with a heavy arse sun dolphin 10ft boat with holes in it so everytime you need to reload it into the truck bed its loaded with about 80lbs of extra water weight it took on while fishing.

10 foot Pelican isn't hard to load in the bed of the truck by yourself as long as you position the battery in the right spot before you try to load it. Unloading is a breeze, but the loading is dependent on lots of factors...battery position, height of tailgete from ground and composition of the surface you are loading it from, etc.
