Anyone have success patching a u boat tube. It's made of a different material then a tire tube. I have two of them and both leak. Makes for a short day on the water. Will a tire patch work? Or is there something else I could use? Both are not very old so wanting to fix them if I can instead of throwing them out.
Maybe my age or the flippers but my feet cramp up bad this year after an hour kicking around. They just the normal diving flippers. I have a older two man boat as well but need to get a battery for it its registered but any places to get a cheap battery for it? Or Walmart a good place? When I fished tournaments and had my big bass boats I always used gell but can't see spending that much money on a battery for a two man boat since wherever I put in at the spots I fish can't be far away. Mainly be fishing Hubbard or cedar Creek chasing crappie mainly. I know both lakes very well for fishing so finding the fish isn't a problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Aquaseal works on just about anything involving leaks like bladder/wader related for a permanent repair. It works where you can't use a patch like the seams of a bladder, which are near the edge. I use a toothpick to push some of the gel onto the inside surface of the bladder, so that it forms a mechanical plug from inside to outside surface. The plug is much stronger than just a surface patch, as the inside head is impossible to push out. Keep it away from gluing to other inside sections by slightly inflating the bladder. For longer tears you would need a patch similar to the bladder type material you have with your tube. There is also a UV version for quick repairs on location, but it is not as strong. Tiny pinhole leaks away from the seam can be stopped with good quality vinyl electrical tape for an instant repair.

On the battery you can use a much smaller U1 size deep discharge available from Academy for about $50. Very large gel UPS batteries used for computer backup will also work and they are replaced at regular intervals by most businesses- might be available at low cost/free used in some cities. Gels must be charged slowly with very small chargers, so they fill very slowly over 12 hours or so.

My 2 cents is Shoe Goo, straight from the tube. Found in the shoe section (where else) of Walmart.

Sorry for the late update but found four small pinholes in the tube all on the same side so went to the camping section and all they had was two different kinds of sealer both to use on inflatable beds one was a liquid the other was a patch so used both to see which was better. It's been three weeks and no leaks. I have left the air in it and it hasn't leaked down yet and also three trips out in it so guess its fixed. Thanks for all the info
