I always thought UBoats were easier to get in/out of but have been looking at the tube commander/oklahoma pride tubes. The bigger ones look like access might not be that bad. Anyone have experience with them?

I have the one below the bigger one. I only use round tubes. They are all tricky to get in.I use flippers ( dive fins). I put my flippers on first then ease my feet in. They are nice tubes and tough.I have fished for 5-7 hours in mine and it was comfortable. I have only used Fishmaster tubes and Outdoor Prides tubes are pretty much Fishmasters set up.

I only have open front tubes. No sense in messing with a round tube for me. Fins are also not optional when tube fishing

I fished round tubes (Fishmaster is, I think, the best)for around 25 years. I also weigh over 300 lbs - now I don't even own a round tube.
U-Boats all the way!

I like "V" boats because of the storage area behind the seat and because some kinds can sit you 4" above the water- no wet hindquarters. It is possible to position and go short distances without fins- if one uses oars or a motor for main propulsion.

Being waist deep in water can be nice for a while in the Summer. Just not for me in the Winter when the adjustment to 4" above water is handy.

Curious which open front you guys like. I am leaning toward the outdoor pride big one but still thinking.

For big guys, the super fat cat provides some of the best stability and support with it's inflatable seat:

Smaller guys will sit dry above the water as pictured.

There are also less costly options for big guys in the big horn series, but they are not as rugged and don't have the inflatable seat option.

The Fish Cat 4 and the Super Fat Cat are hard to beat. I spend up to 14 hours in a day fishing the lakes in SoCal. Very comfortable and easy to get in and out. Our local laws require chest waders to avoid body contact with the water. Just sit down and then put on flippers. I have a PVC pipe rod holder/fish finder that attaches with Velcro. It is just a small Eagle with a sealed 12V rechargeable battery in a water proof box.

Only use round tubes, Oklahoma Pride in the largest size is the best one I have ever used. Been tubing for 35 years and have used alot of different brands. I use diver fins all the time also. I like to lean forward when really serious fishing so I do not like the open fronts. Just does not feel right, can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I am getting to be an old fart and my only concern with the big john is getting in and out of it. Should be easier then smaller tubes?
