Lake Fork Fishing Report 4/17/2018

The last couple of weeks on Lake Fork have either been really good or really slow. As you can see below we’ve been catching some good fish. Some trips we have 30 fish, some we have 7. It just all depends.

This is how I’m fishing.

For some reason the windy days have been better for me. I have been fishing some main-lake points and secondary points. I’ll usually set the boat up in about 6 foot and cast to about 1 foot.

One of the baits that has been working best for me is a 3/8 oz Under Spin (white) with a skinny dipper (white). This is a secret so don’t tell anybody.:) This bait really has produced a lot of good fish this season. If they won’t chew on that, I have been throwing a line through swimbait.

I have also been throwing a Carolina-Rig with a Fluke (Mardi Gras) up in the same areas with about a 4 foot leader and 3/8 oz weight and a #3 rigging hook.

With all this said, I think y'all could catch fish on these spots with square bills, spinner baits and other baits like that.

I haven’t been able to do a lot of sight fishing this year because of the muddy water but the lake is starting to clear up. I am starting to see more fish this month. Most people know when I am sight fishing - I like to flip a Paca Craw with a 5/16 weight and #3 rigging hook.

If you are looking to come out with me for a guide trip in April - I have some evenings open and would love to have you out. These evening trips are a lot of fun and I think you would enjoy them. Also, I have plenty of May dates in May still available.

Here are some of the fish we have been catching recently.
