Made it to Fayette yesterday afternoon for the first time in 6-8 weeks. Quite a few boats for a Thursday afternoon. It seemed like the wind shifted from the south to the n/nw while I was driving to the lake, but weather was beautiful. Didn't see anybody stay in the same place long including me. I only caught 2, both about 14-15" and extremely healthy. I catch a lot of skinny fish at Fayette and very few 'footballs' but both of these fish looked like they been very eating good. I fished from shallow to 15', from reed edges, flats, trees, creeks, and discharge. Back at the launch, about 1/2 the boats scratched, a couple caught 1-2, another said they caught about 10 and 1 boat crushed them throwing deep crank baits in 16-20'. Everywhere but discharge, the water temp was mid 60's.

The bass are full of eggs for one, that could be why you caught some fatties. And yes, it has been a hit or miss thing for the past three to four weeks now. Winds out of the south you can get a few decent fish up shallow, winds out of north or north-west, fish are in deeper cuts.

I do not think it was eggs though. The fish were young and it wasnt an egg look.

Thanks for the report. I wish they would have been in numbers deep when I was out there. I need to install some new electronics as I think that's a necessity this time of year.
