Looks good, fishes bad. Millions of baitfish on the graph, I thought they were shad but a man cast netting at Calligham ramp was catching baby suckers/carp about 2" long, so that's most likely what I was graphing as well. Only color I didn't try was gold.

Quite a bit and it looks real good (it's the stuff you dream about fishing), mostly salt cedar looking stuff though and I fished the hell out of the flooded brush. Threw a frog, buzz bait, spinnerbait, senko, shallow crank and couldn't get a bite. Then tried to fish the old water line with deep cranks and jigs. What worries me is I didn't see much hardwood type of stuff that will last if the lake ever fills.

Very few gar rolling, I just saw 1 about 3' in Four Fingers. There were 2 big gar hunting rigs there but I never saw them to ask. Another fella said he couldn't find any to shoot this weekend but he he said a few weeks ago he did pretty good.
No gators, they have soooooo much brush to hide in now they can hide and never be seen. Just awesome looking cover, I should have taken a pic.

Shallow (less than 8') crankbait bite... I threw one until the cows came home. Are you catching them over the new growth or at old shoreline? I guess I should have added that I was fishing in/around the rain so maybe the fish we terrified of something they haven't seen in 7 years.

Don't know this for fact, but I've always heard and it's been my experience as well, that fishing around freshly flooded vegetation the green trees begin to sour and that the oxygen levels are depleted. I haven't been to Choke since the water came up so I'm just throwing that out there. I would try fishing the isolated dead brush!

Only color I didn't try was gold. One of my strong Baits on Choke is always a Double bladed Char/wht spinner bait with GOLD Willow leaf blades !!! Through the years, I always wondered why they loved those gold blades over the silver ?? Then one day i was catching the baby carp with my cast net just as Grout Scout mentioned-- and figured it out ! I also switched to Gold colored cranks and did better as well !. Choke is loaded with Carp and is on the Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner menu for the Fish at Choke
My stringer is getting there!!

I remember Elroy Krueger advertising the neon good spinnerbaits back in the day, guess he was telling me something and I never listened.
