I had a really tough fishing year at Texoma. It really got to me, I got a new boat and anything... still no luck.(only caught baby stripers) I am not looking for specific spots, but I would like suggestions. Thanks.

Do you recommend fishing flats or humps early morning? What has worked for you? What about electronics, I marked many fish...Still no luck. Any tips for next year would be awesome. Time to get my hunting clothes out.

Fall is the best fishing of the year. Fishing has been bad for me too, but I chalk it up to this being a weird weather year. I fish wind-blown points in the fall and never fail to haul some sandies and hybrids.

Is this the only lake you have fished? Try a different lake. You might have better luck. Then, come back to Texoma with some renewed enthusiasm.

I definitely prefer Texoma in the Fall and Winter.

What I did one time was hang out at the boat ramp by the dam on the Texas side. Introduced myself to a guide that was preparing his boat for his customers. Offered him $50 to allow me to follow him and just watch. No fishing, just watch. He agreed as long as I did not fish, no electronics and no trolling motor. So I did just that. Watched, evaluated what he was using for bait, approximate depths, what he changed as the day progressed, etc. At the end of the day, while he was packing up, I came by and thanked him for allowing me to follow him around. He asked what I learned and I told him. He proceeded in handing me back my $50 and thanked me for honoring what he requested and was happy to teach me a thing or two on this amazing lake. I ended up leaving the $50 on his windshield because it was well worth it.

Thanks for that info. Those guides are really good. I admire some of them.

Fished Thursday and Friday near Preston Point and caught several small smallmouth bass using 1/4oz white rooster tail with a 2" storm minnow trailer.
Those with motorboats caught several black bass off the points using plastic worms and beetle spins.
All the fish were caught in shallow water.
Then came the thunderstorms, time for me and my yak to get off the lake.
Did I mention the rain?
