Fished yesterday and today. We got on the lake late Friday but managed about 10 fish before we came off the water.

Today, we had a 40+ fish day. The wind was up and we fished the grass on the wind blown points and flats. We scored fish using red rattle-traps and squarebill cranks. We could not get the fish to look at spinnerbaits or plastics. Only 7 or 8 boats on the water. Talked to some guys in Basscat and they said they were doing just as good we were. The water temp where we fished started at 58 degrees and went up to 63 by the time we came off the water. Game warden was also on the water today. He was very young guy that looked 16 years old to me. He seemed stunned the people he checked on the lake were catch and release.

Bastrop is one of my favorite lakes. If only all my fishing days could be like today going home with a sore arm and a torn up thumb from lipping fish.
