Water stained (typical for this lake). Water temps 84 mornings,91 mid day. Hard Thermocline at 11 ft on the main lake. Most shad balls were cruzing between 3 to 9 ft.Caught some good fish on windy points using Tennessee Shad 4-7 ft square bill as well as chrome. Ripping chrome Red a Eye Shad produced as well. Very few bites shallow in the reeds. Did catch a few on frog in the Lilly pads on the very upper end of the lake( be careful making that run, lots of lower unit killers just below the water, recommend idling once you get above the bridge. Benn fishing this lake all my life and I still idle up there) Perfect set up was main lake point, park on downwind side and throw into wind. Fish were ambushing shad as they were pushed over the top of the point on the downwind side.
C-Rig was productive in the 5-8 ft range on points as well( fluke). And if course my favorite.. Pitching docks. Outer edges held fish better if in 6-10 ft of water. Rage craw and Senkos.

Nice report and you're correct, that old lake has still got a lot of big bad stumps in it. I've got a new SHO and the bottom half of my skeg is lying on the bottom of Murvaul....and I was just at idle. lol

Someone would have a YouTube mega hit if they were videoing me trying to get my Skeeter off of one of those fat ones as I slow roll high centered her just past the big island. Dang boat just kept spinning on top of it.... Might have had something to do with the level 9 pucker factor I had going trying not to tear up my boat in the process...

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways with a fishing rod in one hand, 10# LMB in the other, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and yelling "Wow! What a Ride!
