I can't give this trip a big thumps up even though it was fun. We were on a dink fest. Caught 37, with big bass at only 2-1/2lbs. The lake was calm almost all day. Saw other boats running and gunning, that right there tells me were searchg for bigger fish as well. We never found them, that I do know. In fact, a bite in general was difficult to find after 11am. Thought it was gonna be an awesome day when we had 11 in the first hour, but I chose to hunt for some better fish. In this search, we would catch one here and one there. I tried timber, points, humps, rip rap and deep water with submerged timber in 40 feet. I could look back and say, well I should have done this or that, but the truth is, I had a pretty good time just catching what I did while fishing with that ultra light spinning rig with six pound test line. Water temp was 71. Very very mild breeze that would change direction periodically. Blue bird sky all day. Water clarity was not it's norm, a little dingy. Pretty much tossed plastic all day.

Are you sure the water temp was 71? Even if the generators are idle, the temps should be upper 80's to low 90's, shouldn't it?

No I'm not sure about the surface temp; I just made up a number. Are you frigging kidding me right now? I tell you what, you go out there and read it yourself and please don't bother to read any of my post in the near future. Good Lord, some people. You questioning my ability to read the temp on my graph is absolutely ridiculous. Hey, its social media, take it for what its worth and move forwards.

Guess next time I will post the water temp in the discharge. Oh wait; I did fish that area on Tuesday. And yes, it was much warmer than any other part of the lake. It was 91 degrees up by the no boat buoy but close to the shoreline, moved over twenty feet into the main current by buoy and got a reading of 97. Now to me, that was weird.
So there you have it, you wanted to hear about higher water temps in this lake, fish the discharge and you got it. I did hook up with a two pound fish in there though. Had some buddies that tore em up in there a week a go. I don't like to fish this area myself, but I was on a mission Tuesday to find some bigger fish and I tried a bunch of different areas including this one.

I can confirm water temps for you Doug. Main lake was 72* and I saw temps as low as 68 in the creeks and the discharge was 83 first thing in the morning....

Thanks Chris. I guess there will always be those few who simply do not believe what anglers post on here. I mean come on now, what do I have to gain by posting some made up water temp on here? REALLY That was bazzar.........

I don't think dbn0405 was really doubting your ability to read a temp gauge. I think he was just really surprised at those "low" numbers considering how dang hot the discharge usually is and how it should warm up the lake. I went to Bastrop today and the water was no more that 62 at the discharge. I would have probably questioned that if I had read it online. All's good!
