Greetings everyone, I'm new to the site, and new to the sport. I was introduced to bass fishing by a friend and been pretty much hooked ever since. No pun intended. I had a question, I was on google maps looking for bodies of water and found a pond behind a neighborhood. I was wondering if there was a site that I could check with to see if it was okay to fish? Or should I just go ask the nearest house to see if it is their property? I hope to meet some good people and learn new things.

1st thing, I want to thank you for being so respectful to the land owners. It means a lot to so many people on here to have that kind of respect. 2nd, I would take a drive and walk around the place a little bit and see if there are any signs. This may help you. If you cannot locate any signs, knocking on a few doors never hurt. You may make some new friends and get answers to what you seek. In some cases you can find info on the ponds with your county if it's legal to fish or not.

You can usually get a vibe if a pond is ok to fish.
Are there signs? Thats an easy tip off if its posted then stay away.
Look around and see if it looks like other people have been fishing it... Sadly you will usually find something left behind. Check the trees, see if up in the branches there are any bobbers or spinnerbaits hanging in the trees?
Also, check the bank fishing section and see if you can find anyone posting about the place. Use the search feature on here and sometimes you can find info just based on searching the street name the pond is on.
When fishing spots near commercial buildings I stay low pro and fish on the weekends or after business hours. Th
Good luck and welcome!
