Brooks Koepka just won his 3rd major golf championship, two this year, with his win yesterday at the 2018 PGA Championship. He'd already won the 2018 U.S. Open, then also the 2017 U.S. Open last year. So, he shares many parallels with Jordan Lee, winner of the last two Bassmaster Classics.
One is that Koepka has only won one non-major tournament over his young career. Many here, and elsewhere, have noted that Jordan Lee has followed the same sort of path where his Classic successes overshadow his year-long tournament results.
The two in a row (U.S. Opens) and two majors in a single year also put Koepka in rarefied territory. Only a few in golf have done either, sort of rare. Same with Jordan Lee's two in a row . . . just a few from the bass angling world have pulled off winning back to back.
Finally, some genetics. Oh, you can bet it exists in athletics! Brooks' younger brother, Chase, is also a professional golfer. Just like Jordan's brother, Matt, is a pro angler. Both sports are tough, very competitive, hard to find a place in, yet both of these athletes have brothers carving out good careers.
Some of the news on Koepka worth a read. Seems he has "nerves" well-suited for big comps where others falter under the pressure.

Don't know about Brooks college success but I would say it's a fair comparison. Both have elevated their ceiling very quickly, pressure now is staying there but I think both will fair well.

Who cares? Everyone was watching Tiger. Me included. Not to hijack, but I guarantee the Arb numbers will show how important Tiger is to golf. STILL!!
Koepka is a young stud. His girlfriend sure likes the limelight!!

Except Koepka has made over 6 million with just his three major wins no including the money from all of the other events he has placed in. Has endorsment contracts worth 31 million a year, and pays zero entry fees(nobody pays entry fees to the PGA events) and flys around in a chartered jet. Other than that they are almost the same!

Let's not forget the hundred thousand people who watched it live and the 10s of millions in tv viewership lol.

I can't play 18 holes with the same ball, much less win a classic.. Both amazing feats of skill, but different payouts...

Well, some get it. Others? Not so much.
I was highlighting similarities, not differences, the main one being that both of these young men have won big titles . . . but haven't stood out as much winning smaller tournaments, not yet, anyway.
Koepka has only won a single non-major event so far. And, Jordan, too, so far, seems to excel at the Classics.
For sure on Tiger Woods and the attention he gets. Since he was close to the top of the leader board, viewership was up 69% over last year's event. In fishing, we have the same thing, on a smaller scale, with KVD getting a lot of coverage, lots of fans following him. If KVD is in the hunt for a title, he'll garner the most attention of any bass angler, by far. Deservedly.

If you're comparing the individuals, there may be some things in common. If you're comparing the sports, forget it. The scale is not even close. Kinda like this - the name Tiger Woods is known by a larger percentage of people in the US, probably the world, than know KVD in Kalamzoo, Michigan.

I'm with you on that Billy but if I had a choice of winning a U.S. Open or a Classic I'm going with the Open. Whole lots tougher against a lot more competition. Brooks could retire right now if he wanted to, Jordan's gotta keep chunking.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

Genuine good comparison. Yes money is diff. but it comes from a bigger sport, more lucrative endorsement opportunities etc. And yes Jordan does not have a regular season W, but he also lost on stage to KVD a couple of seasons ago in the regular season. The comparisons of young athletes at climbing the mountain in their chosen profession is a good one.
