you might catch one every now and then but you are better fishing for blacks or stripers.

I think O.H. Ivie should be considered as one of the better Smallmouth lakes around. Not the best Smallmouth lake in the state, but definitely worthy of mention. I just got back from a week on O.H. Ivie and I can tell you that the Smallmouth are thriving there. Over the course of the week My Dad and I probably caught a dozen or more Smallmouth. A couple of small ones, but most were 3 lbs up to 4 1/2 lbs. Everyone of them was caught on a topwater bait. Most of them on a spook, but caught a few on a Zell Pop, and even caught one on a big Whopper Plopper. You ain't lived until you've watched a 4 plus pound Smallmouth eat a spook 10 feet from the boat. All of the Smallmouth were caught while fishing for Largemouth. Man the fishing is good on that lake right now. What jewel O.H. Ivie is.
